Energy balls are always one of my favorite snacks. Made with simple ingredients that have numerous health benefits, these energy balls are so quick to whip up! You can create them in 10 minutes and snack on them all week! Take a look at a few of the health benefits of the ingredients below:
What are the health benefits of almond butter energy balls?
Almond Butter
Almond butter provides a rich, nutty flavor to the energy bites as well as healthy fats. Nuts are full of unsaturated fats, which are the healthy fats. These fats help to lower your LDL cholesterol and keep your heart healthy. Additionally, almonds contain Vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to repair free radicals in your body and prevent cancer.
Rolled Oats
Rolled oats or old fashioned oats are a great healthy carbohydrate to help give you energy. Oats are complex carbs, meaning they contain more fiber than simple carbs. Our bodies love to run on carbs, as they provide energy for our various body systems (especially our brain!). Fiber is incredibly important because it helps to support your digestive health, lowers your cholesterol, and keeps you fuller longer.
Flax Seeds
Flax seeds are a powerhouse of nutrition. Flax seeds are a great plant based source of Omega 3 fatty acids in the form of alpha linoleic acid (ALA). This form converts to EPA and DHA in your body. These healthy fats help to reduce inflammation and support your heart health as well. Flax seeds are also a good source of fiber too!
Hemp Seeds
Hemp seeds are a wonderful plant based protein. About 3 tbsp of hemp seeds contains 10g protein! These are a nutty and creamy seed that also contain Omega 3s, the benefits of which are mentioned above.
Cacao Nibs
Cacao nibs are pure unsweetened chocolate. They have a crunchy texture that is really fun too! I like these in my energy balls instead of chocolate chips to boost their nutrition and lower the sugar. Cacao nibs are rich in antioxidants, which like I mentioned above are a great source of antioxidants.
Almond Butter Energy Balls
Almond butter energy balls are made with simple ingredients and only take 10 minutes! This healthy snack is full of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. The almond butter adds a nutty, creamy bite, while the honey provides a touch of sweetness. Cacao nibs give a great crunch and chocolatey flavor.
